The Pictet Collection
A collection showcasing Swiss art from 1805 to the presentFrom Pictet’s founding in 1805 to this day, the Pictet Collection has centred exclusively on Swiss art and artists. It currently contains more than 1100 works in a wide range of techniques.
Values like the pursuit of lasting quality, joy in innovation, and independent reasoning are what sets the Pictet Group apart, and these are reflected in the collection.
Each new acquisition is performed to enrich the collection with works that have played an essential role in the growth of the artist and in the course of art history. With a view to promoting young talent, the collection fosters active collaboration with the artists, and follows them as they progress in their careers. Beyond its historic roots, the collection is marked by its forward-looking, innovative orientation.
In keeping with its tradition, the Pictet Group has amassed a collection that brings together works by artists with vastly different profiles. Wherever they may come from, one thing that all of the artists share is a cultural connection to Switzerland, be it through their education, their exhibitions, their activism or their relationships. Rather than merely shining a spotlight on Switzerland, the aim is to do justice to the countless influences that have shaped the country. It is a way of illuminating the world from different vantage points.
The works, shown at the group’s Geneva headquarters and at its other locations in and outside of Switzerland, invite viewers to reflect. To foster dialogue between the pieces, the exhibition venues and the public, the artists are regularly asked to come and talk about their work on site.
Art is a fixture of day-to-day life at Pictet – for its communications, and for its internal and external activities. The Pictet Collection routinely loans out pieces for temporary exhibitions, and partners with many museums and cultural institutions.
