Continuous Exhibition "Art in motion"

As an innovative law firm, Allen & Overy has decided to focus its art collection on video art, an emerging, avant-garde trend and a precursor of contemporary art. This unusual choice emphasises our intention to support contemporary creation, and further emphasises our image as an enthusiastic and socially engaged firm. The decision to give our collection to the MUDAM in 2015 is an expression of Allen & Overy’s commitment to the local and wider community of Luxembourg.

 

Below is a list of the works which will be projected, on a loop, within our offices for the duration of the PAK event:

 

« Golden Hours » (2015) by Gonzalo Lebrija – Gonzalo Lebrija has been working for the past years over the aesthetic experience of the stopped instant. His work is in the poetic state of the conceptual view, as a witness of the time going by as moment between life and death.

 

« Vertigen de la Vida » (Dizziness of Life) (2011) by Su-Mei Tsé – This artist is a figurehead of the Luxembourgish art scene. Her work combines photography, video, installations and music. In 2003, she received the Golden Lion award at the Venice Biennale for the best national participation.

 

“Wind Orchestra” (2012) by Mircea Cantor – Allen & Overy was captivated by the poetic beauty of Mircea Cantor’s art. This 36-year-old Romanian artist constructs his works in symbols and draws a universe located between poetry and politics. The artist frequently draws inspiration from a social or historical context in order to poeticise reality and put his finger on the problems of the planet.

 

“Forte!” (2010) by Mark Lewis – Wordless, short and silent, his films are genuine visual plots. The spectator is thus induced to decode the film, frequently shot in one of the modern cities that Mark Lewis discovered in his past.
