PRIVATE ART KIRCHBERG
BGL BNP Paribas pays tribute to the Luxembourg artist François Gillen (1914-1997) who is largely represented in bank’s collection of over 1000 art works.Painter, sculptor, creator of mosaics and stained glass windows, François Gillen turned to abstraction very early on by developing a vocabulary based on geometric elements and lines, associating formal rigour with the radiance of colour. Besides his pictorial works, the artist is particularly renowned for his monumental stained glass windows, which can be seen in numerous churches and public buildings in the country. Author of a coherent work, François Gillen is among the foremost Luxembourg artists of the XXth century.
At BGL BNP Paribas headquarters, visitors will also discover numerous works of art created to dialogue with the architecture of the building, amongst which can be found the large collages of Jan Voss in the hall, the glass columns by Marie-Paule Feiereisen and the mural friezes by Sonja Roef.
Within the context of Private Art Kirchberg, the Bank’s garden, designed by the famous landscape architect Jacques Wirtz, will be open to the public. It holds a sculpture from the Hourloupe cycle by French artist Jean Dubuffet.
