EIB's art collection comprises some 580 works of art, encompassing paintings, photographs, works on paper, sculptures and installations. The collection mainly focuses on contemporary works by leading or emerging European artists.

The artistic focus of the art collection reflects the EIB's role at the forefront of economic and social development in Europe and naturally interacts with the evolving scope of the Bank's character and activities, particularly its geographic expansion.

The Bank has tended to acquire art at an early stage in an artist's career: some of the artists have since become widely recognised, or even iconic and internationally acclaimed such as Jannis Kounellis, Anish Kapoor, Tony Cragg, Sean Scully or Olivier Debré.

For its 50th anniversary, the EIB unveiled three works of art commissioned from two leading EU artists, Michael Craig-Martin and Tobias Rehberger. The new installations are a cultural centerpiece of the new building in Luxembourg, an innovative and luminous eco-building.

For this edition of PAK, EIB will present "Portraiture in the EIB Collection". This thematic exhibition will explore the richness and evolution of the portrait genre, through a selection of both historical and contemporary works. This will bea unique opportunity for the public to witness a dialogue between the classic and the modern in visual arts.

La collection artistique de la BEI compte quelque 580 oeuvres d'art : peintures, photographies, travaux sur papier, sculptures et installations. Cet ensemble fait la part belle aux oeuvres contemporaines d'artistes européens reconnus ou à la renommée naissante.

L'orientation artistique de sa collection d'art fait écho au rôle de pionnier joué par la BEI en matière de développement économique et social en Europe et interagit naturellement avec le caractère évolutif de la nature et des activités de la Banque, en particulier avec son expansion géographique.

La Banque s'efforce d'acquérir des oeuvres d'artistes qui débutent leur carrière. Certains de ces artistes ont été largement reconnus depuis, voire sont devenus des artistes emblématiques et internationalement salués, comme c'est le cas de Jannis Kounellis, Anish Kapoor, Tony Cragg, Sean Scully ou Olivier Debré.

Pour cette édition de PAK (Private Art Kirchberg), la BEI présentera "Le portrait dans la collection BEI". Cette exposition thématique explorera la richesse et l'évolution du genre du portrait au travers d'une sélection de travaux aussi bien historiques que contemporains. Elle offrira au public une chance unique d'assister à un dialogue entre le classique et le moderne dans les arts visuels.

Die Kunstsammlung der EIB umfasst etwa 580 Werke, zu denen Gemälde, Fotografien, Papierarbeiten, Skulpturen und Installationen gehören. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf zeitgenössischen Arbeiten führender oder aufstrebender europäischer Künstler.

Die künstlerische Ausrichtung der Sammlung spiegelt die Vorreiterrolle der EIB bei der Förderung der wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Entwicklung in Europa wider. Sie interagiert auf natürliche Weise mit der sich kontinuierlich entwickelnden Natur der Bank und ihrer Aktivitäten, die sich auf immer mehr Länder erstrecken.

Die Bank hat bislang vor allem Werke von Künstlern erworben, die noch am Anfang ihrer Karriere standen. Einige dieser Künstler finden mittlerweile breite Anerkennung oder werden sogar als internationale Stars gefeiert. Zur Sammlung der Bank gehören so beispielsweise Arbeiten von Janis Kounellis, Anish Kapoor, Tony Cragg, Sean Scully und Olivier Debré.

Anlässlich des 50. Jahrestags ihrer Gründung stellte die EIB der Öffentlichkeit drei Kunstwerke vor, die sie bei zwei renommierten Künstlern aus der EU in Auftrag gegeben hatte - Michael Craig-Martin und Tobias Rehberger. Die neuen Installationen sind das künstlerische Highlight des neuen Gebäudes der EIB - eines innovativen, lichtdurchfluteten Gebäudes in ökologischer Bauweise.

Auf der diesjährigen Ausstellung im Rahmen der Initiative "Private Art Kirchberg" präsentiert die EIB "Porträts in der Kunstsammlung der EIB". Anhand einer Auswahl historischer und zeitgenössischer Arbeiten zeigt diese thematische Ausstellung den Reichtum und die Entwicklung der Porträtkunst. Für die Öffentlichkeit ist dies eine einmalige Gelegenheit, einen Dialog zwischen der klassischen und der modernen visuellen Kunst zu erleben.
