La collection d'art contemporain de Allen & Overy Luxembourg comprend des oeuvres d'artistes luxembourgeois et internationaux. Cette année, David Brognon (The Plug), artiste d'origine belge né en 1978, qui vit et travaille à Luxembourg, présentera un ensemble d'oeuvres vidéo dont Magdalena (2009), Totentanz (Golden Shoot) (2012) et The Most Beautiful Attempt (2012), réalisée en collaboration avec Stéphanie Rollin. Une quatrième oeuvre vidéo en cours de réalisation sera montrée en avant-première à cette occasion. L'artiste sera également présent durant la journée pour expliquer aux visiteurs sa démarche.

Issu du Street Art, David Brognon (The Plug), représente la jeune scène artistique du Luxembourg et n'est plus un inconnu dans le circuit de l'art contemporain. Le public a ainsi pu découvrir cet artiste à l'occasion de l'exposition de groupe Elo au Mudam Luxembourg (2008) , lors de la manifestation Pearls of the North à Paris (2011) et de la Biennale de Sélestat (2011). Prochainement l'artiste participera à plusieurs expositions collectives dont l'une au Fonds Régional d'Art Contemporain Poitou-Charentes à Angoulême et l'autre en 2013 à la Maison Rouge, fondation Antoine de Galbert à Paris.

L'artiste, qui désormais investit les cimaises des musées et galeries, dévoile à travers ses vidéos, installations et photographies aux titres évocateurs, un regard à la fois poétique, décalé et interpellant sur le monde de la rue et des marginaux. Ainsi la vidéo Totentanz (Golden Shoot) montre les pieds d'un danseur qui bougent au rythme de l'oeuvre symphonique Totentanz de Franz Liszt et qui se démènent avec des paillettes en or recouvrant le sol ; ces paillettes se collent sur la peau, comme une contamination, en référence au cycle de travail que l'artiste a entrepris sur des toxicomanes. The Most Beautiful Attempt montre dans un espace plongé dans le noir un jeune garçon raclant des rangées de sel à même le sol, en suivant les trames d'ombres lumineuses projetées depuis l'extérieur et qui se déplacent lentement. Les oeuvres de l'artiste pointent la détresse et la violence mais aussi la vie et l'espoir.

Vous aurez également l'opportunité de découvrir Forever, dernière acquisition en date du cabinet de l'artiste allemande Julika Rudelius. La réalisatrice, qui vit entre New York et Amsterdam, est connue internationalement pour la complexité de ses films et installations, dans lesquels elle scrute les modèles et comportements de la vie courante.

Allen & Overy Luxembourg's contemporary art collection includes works by Luxembourg and international artists. David Brognon (The Plug), born in Belgium in 1978, lives and works in Luxembourg. With a background in street art, David Brognon (The Plug) is today one of the key representatives of the young scene of Luxembourg artists and has become a familiar name in the contemporary art circuit. The general public discovered his work through occasions such as the group show Elo at Mudam Luxembourg (2008), Pearls of the North in Paris (2011) and the Sélestat Biennial (2011). Among his upcoming shows are group exhibitions at the Fonds Régional d'Art Contemporain Poitou-Charentes in Angoulême in 2012 and at Maison Rouge, fondation Antoine de Galbert in Paris in 2013.

The artist, who regularly adorns the walls of museums and galleries, offers a fresh, poetic and challenging look at street life and people living on the margins of society. The video Totentanz (Golden Shoot) shows the feet of a dancer moving to the sound of the eponymous symphonic piece by Franz Liszt while struggling with golden sequins lying on the floor. The sequins stick to his skin, as though contaminating it - an implicit reference to a series of work for which the artist collaborated with drug addicts. The Most Beautiful Attempt shows a young boy in a darkened room scraping together rows of salt on the floor and arranging them along the slowly moving shadow lines cast by the window frames. The Plug's work addresses human feelings and behaviours such as distress and violence, but also life and hope.

You will also have the opportunity to discover Allen & Overy Luxembourg's latest acquisition Forever by the German artist Julika Rudelius. This filmmaker, who lives in New York and Amsterdam, is known internationally for her complex films and installations, in which she investigates the often arcane patterns and motivations behind everyday behaviour.

Die Pailletten kleben an der Haut als ob sie sie infizieren wollten - eine implizite Anspielung auf eine Serie von Arbeiten, für die der Künstler mit Drogenabhängigen zusammen arbeitete. The Most Beautiful Attempt zeigt einen kleinen Jungen, der in einem abgedunkelten Raum Salz in Reihen auf dem Boden zusammenkratzt. Er arrangiert die Reihen entlang von sich langsam bewegenden Schattenlinien, die durch die Fensterrahmen geworfen werden. Die Arbeiten von The Plug sprechen menschliche Gefühle und Verhaltensweisen wie Leid und Gewalt, aber auch Leben und Hoffnung an.
