La collection d'art de la BEI compte quelque 550 peintures, photographies, œuvres sur papier, sculptures et installations. Cet ensemble fait la part belle aux œuvres contemporaines d'artistes européens reconnus ou à la renommée naissante.

Dans son état actuel, la collection couvre plus d'un demi-siècle, de 1958 à aujourd'hui. Grâce à des acquisitions opportunes (souvent tôt dans la carrière de l'artiste), la Banque a pu constituer un vaste ensemble, pour un investissement pécuniaire relativement modeste. On y trouve des œuvres d'artistes emblématiques et internationalement salués, tels que Janis Kounellis, Anish Kapoor, Tony Cragg, Sean Scully ou Olivier Debré. Ces dernières années, la BEI s’est attachée à acquérir des œuvres d’artistes nouveaux ou faisant partie de la génération montante.

Pour son 50e anniversaire, la Banque a dévoilé trois œuvres d’art commandées à deux grands artistes européens, Michael Craig-Martin et Tobias Rehberger. Ces trois œuvres sont installées dans le nouvel immeuble de la BEI à Luxembourg, un bâtiment moderne et lumineux, innovant et écologique, qui leur offre une remarquable vitrine et dont elles constituent l’attrait culturel majeur.

EIB’s art collection comprises some 550 works of art, encompassing paintings, photographs, works on paper, sculptures and installations. The collection focuses on contemporary works by leading or emerging European artists.

The collection spans more than half a century (1958-now). Timely acquisitions (often early in an artist’s career) mean the Bank has been able to build a substantial collection with relatively modest outlays. There are works by iconic and internationally acclaimed artists such as Janis Kounellis, Anish Kapoor, Tony Cragg, Sean Scully or Olivier Debré. In recent years the focus has been on acquiring work from emerging or newly established artists.

For its 50th anniversary, the EIB unveiled three works of art commissioned from two leading EU artists, Michael Craig-Martin and Tobias Rehberger. The new installations are a cultural centrepiece for the new building in Luxembourg, an innovative and luminous eco-building that provides a strong showcase for these commissions.

Die Kunstsammlung der EIB umfasst etwa 550 Werke, zu denen Gemälde, Fotografien, Papierarbeiten, Skulpturen und Installationen gehören. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf zeitgenössischen Arbeiten führender oder aufstrebender europäischer Künstler.

Die Sammlung umspannt mehr als ein halbes Jahrhundert (von 1958 bis heute). Durch die frühzeitige Anschaffung (oft in einer frühen Phase der Karriere eines Künstlers) konnte die Bank eine bedeutende Sammlung mit relativ bescheidenen Mitteln aufbauen. Zum Bestand gehören heute Arbeiten angesagter und international gefeierter Künstler wie Janis Kounellis, Anish Kapoor, Tony Cragg, Sean Scully und Olivier Debré. In den vergangenen Jahren wurden vor allem Werke junger oder noch nicht lange etablierter Künstler angeschafft.

Anlässlich des 50. Jahrestags ihres Bestehens stellte die EIB der Öffentlichkeit drei Kunstwerke vor, die sie bei zwei in der EU führenden Künstlern in Auftrag gegeben hatte - Michael Craig-Martin und Tobias Rehberger. Die neuen Installationen sind das kulturelle Herzstück des neuen Gebäudes in Luxemburg - ein innovatives, lichtdurchflutetes Gebäude in ökologischer Bauweise, das den idealen Rahmen für die Präsentation dieser Auftragsarbeiten bietet.
